Valeria Terán was Born and raised in Mérida Venezuela (1990)
She studied at the Universidad de los Andes, at the Faculty of Visual Arts and Graphic Design (2011)
She worked in Julián Villafañe's atelier, where she had the opportunity to experience the dynamics of an atelier workflow and the cultivation of the painting craft, as well as the first direct influence that Valeria received in her artwork; After this kind of internship with Villafañe, she dropped out of art school and decided to pursue her studies on her own.
She became interested in Artists like Cy Twombly and Joan Mitchell because of the chromatic and gestural strength of their artworks; In addition to abstract expressionism, Valeria Terán's work is influenced by her own practice and spiritual vision, making use of her psychological processes, impressions from the unconscious and dreams -inexhaustible source of imaginative and sensitive resources- to create; where expression, intuition, movement and color are key in her abstract compositions.
